Hello i was driving my recently bought daihatsu sportrak home from work yesterday morning i was stuck behind a bmw doing 40 mph i dropped down a gear to overtake witch i did about half a mile down the road the oil light started to flicker and i started to loose power i pulled over checked oil level it was fine i got the car towed home changed the oil but now engine sound rough and oil light comes on when engine warm and cuts out at low revs any help please im really stuck.

oh dear, not good, sounds like its been starved of oil, maybe the oil ways have become glooped up, I think your gonna be removing the sump pan to see for movement in big end shells, probably best to find another engine, plenty about.

Oil lights only come on with
Oil lights only come on with low pressure of about 5psi and this is already too low so will most likely have damaged the engine anyway.
Check the wire is on the oil pressure switch and not touching the engine block as this will put it on, remove the oil pressure gauge and plug a pressure gauge in and run the engine to check oil pressure and this will tell you if it is too low, if it is then oil pump issues or a blocked oil filter are the main culprits.
