Hijet undrivable, water / coolant lasts 5 miles! Anyone knowledgeable living in South Devon who could help with repairs?

Forum:

Hi

My Hijet is in a bad way and I'd appreciate some advice asap please.
A couple of months ago, it started overheating and losing its coolant / water quickly and was advised to put K-Seal in the system to cure the problem. The problem did seem to be cured until two days ago when it went back to square one (a few miles driven and the system is empty)

The system only holds about a mug full of water also, and I'm sure there's an airblock too (when an attempt was made at bleeding, this made no difference, though I'm not sure the air was removed)

I want to keep the van, but if I take it to a a garage, it's going to be a trial and error thing as most don't know anything about Hijets and costs will be high to try and fix the problem. I'm now without transport, and need my van!

Can you guide me please / or is there anyone knowledgeable living in South Devon who could help with repairs??

Thanks!

You have cooked the engine , possibly the thermostat is stuck shut , which may have caused the original overheating problem .
If you can only get a cup full of water in you are probably filling the header tank , not the radiator. The engine should hold at least 5 litres. If the engine has no cooling water you will continue to trash it whenever you run it. Get it to a garage before the engine is scrap. A decent garage even if not familiar with Daihatsu should be able to do a cylinder head without too much trouble.
