sirion 1.3 2005 head gasket or head or block

Forum:

I have removed the head as I have oil in the coolant to find nothing wrong with the head gasket as far as I'm aware are there any common fault with the head or block on these engines Unknw

I think it's a k3-ve engine

daihatsu for the scrap been bin possibly 60k on the clock shame

Hi the above posts says no water in oil maybe i should have put coolant same thing

and its a manual, one of the first things I would have checked I'm afraid.

Few years back I reconditioned engines for a living for the ministry of defense and I could pressure test blocks as well as heads but don't have access to the equipment to do so anymore, engine block being the on thing not tested.

If there is no one in this forum that's aware of any other problems thank you anyway for any comments to help I will have to figure this one out on my own.

Cool Heads

Having re-read all the posts on this topic I am getting the feeling this may be a mis-diagnosis. It does happen. Let’s look at what we have.

Everyone agrees this engine is not prone to this type of random failure; there is only oil in the coolant and importantly no coolant in the oil; there is no mention of oil consumption and a rising coolant level – just the mayonnaise in the coolant; it isn’t an automatic with the integral cooler; there is apparently no sign of head leakage. But very importantly the vehicle does not belong to the original poster (OP) – he is in fact some way along the chain.

Diagnosing a fault on a car I own, and drive every day, is so much easier than one I am unfamiliar with (the OP didn’t even know the engine code). Where I am going with this is, this car belongs to a friend’s mother and we have no background as to why the head was removed or how the car was driven or what flagged up originally to alert the mother/friend to a problem – all we have is someone originally asking if there are any common problems with this engine and everyone has gone off scratching their heads looking for an answer as to why the head or block is cracked.

I would be asking the mother who owns the car if some helpful person has been near it to top up any fluids. I have seen dumb people put water in power steering reservoirs or any other combination of stupid things. So I ask is this a case of the OP assuming it must be a major problem when in fact it is contamination of the coolant system via human intervention.

I don’t know the answer. Only the OP can fill in the blanks – of which he has left many. What is needed here is some back-filling of details leading up to this head removal. We all agree the probability of an engine fault is very low so what does that leave us?

.........and there we have it.
