Charade Brake Discs and Pads - Unsure Which Size to Get??

Forum:

Hi All

I'm really glad this site is here for times like these. My brakes are playing up and I'd like to replace the whole front right set as parts are quite cheap. The only problem I'm having is that every site I go on list 2 types of pads and discs with two different measurements?!

What's worse is that I went on to carparts4less' eBay page and looked at the two different types of brake pads:

-One set is for a Charade from 2003 to 2011 with wheels of 14" diameter: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAIHATSU-CHARADE-1-0-03-11-Pagid-Pad-Set-T1520-Front-Brake-Pads-/400586303281?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

-The other set is for the Cuore (2007 - 2013) with 13" wheels: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAIHATSU-CUORE-1-0-07-12-Pagid-T1269-Front-Brake-Pads-Sumitomo-System-/300986452127?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

Now my 2005 Charade has 13" wheels?? Or at least I paid for 4 new R13 tyres last week so I bloody well hope they are?!

Which discs and pads do I get? I'm all for supporting my local garage but a pad and disc change is not worth the labour costs IMO when I can easily do it myself.

Please Help!!

Couldn't you just take the wheel off and measure the diameter of the disks and take one set of pads out and compare them , the two sets look totally different from each other. Then put it all back together while you wait for the right parts.

discs, pads and calliper slider pins

sticky calliper slider pins are very often the cause of uneven wear on pads and discs. i grease mine annually to keep braking efficiency to the max and ensure even wear across the pads and discs. (i mention this as it might be the cause of your brakes "playing up")

have you already changed your discs and pads? if not, i would recommend calling one of the old daihatsu dealers. some of them still sell parts and prices are not too high - plus you know you will be getting the right specification. http://www.daihatsudealer.co.uk/dealers/

I might be late with this.

I might be late with this. But there are two types from 05 onwards for the Charade it uses Vented disc and 03 to pre 05, it uses a solid disc.

And so i guess the disc differ by which type of disc it uses!

P.S I recently had to change a caliper and front disc and pads, as the power i brought the car off had a seize caliper / slider pin.
