Need help for my engine.

Forum:

Hi everygody,
I just bought a F75 few months ago. Recently, I found the engine is burning oil. Every 2-3 weeks I need to top up the oil to keep the engine running smooth. The engine seems and sounds quite good and without leaking oil. So where has the oil gone? Is it burned by turbo? I can't see any smoke in the day light. Only in the night, if I followed by somebody, I can see some smoke before turbo runs in, say before 1500rpm. I really worried about what happened to my engine.
Any ideas?

Here is another question. Everybody says Fourtrack is not good on road. That's true. The leaf spring is really hard, no matter how you adjust the three stage shockers. Is there any ideas how to make it softer and better on road? BiggrinBiggrin :lol:Maybe this is a stupid question, I just want to discuss about it.

Thanks very much.

How old, and how many k's/mil

How old, and how many k's/miles on the clock? The earlier DL 2.8's have a crankcase ventilation pipe coming from the side plate and venting to atmosphere. A pipe about 1 inch dia exiting downward beside the sump on the left hand side. Look here when the motor is running, is there smoke showing here. Take the oil filler cap off when the motor is running, is there excessive pressure/smoke coming from here? If so, you may have some stuck/broken rings. It is possible your turbo is worn. Smoke from a diesel exhaust is normal, and will be considerably more visible at night, when being followed by another vehicle, and their headlights show up the smoke. Again, this is normal.

en...ur suggestions are reall

en...ur suggestions are really considerable. My F75 was registered in 1990 and has near 120000 miles on clock. It's a EL special edition which I believe launched from August of 1990.
By the way, I will do the check u've told me today and tell u result. The link u gave me is a nice place. I'll join u. Thanks a lot.

oil

I had a similar problem with my F75 where it had a bad oil leak in the bell housing leaking at the cam shaft plug but in this case it left a noticable oil leak on the ground after being driven. I have used Shell Helix super for older engines in this motor for the last 300,000 kms as it loses oil pressure and I think is leaking at the valve guides. The head has done 530,000 kms so I an not complaining.
