Turbo problems...i think!

Forum:

This time i think the daihatsu fourtrak has blown the turbo!

Coming back from bristol in heavy traffic at 15mph for 2hrs done it no favours!
Symptoms are
1 it got slower!
2 belching black smoke mainly on tickover and higher revs (when the turbo should kick in)
3 the turbo light in the dash has stopped working!
4 on higher revs it doesnt build up the revs almost like its starving all power over somany revs (again around where the turbo kicks in)

So now it will hardly even make it up some hills it used to fly up.

Can someone just tell me what i dont wanna hear or believe!.................

It does sound like its had it

It does sound like its had it m8....black smoke = unburnt fuel

Did the turbo light stop working at the same time you suspected the turbo was blown Unknw if so this would indicate a definite turbo problem and not just a blown bulb.

Black smoke at tick over...hmmm this would indicate knackered glow plugs to me...but it could be related to the turbo..not sure about this one.

If it turns out to be a blown turbo dont dispair ..there are second hand ones out there for not ridiculous prices.

turbo

sounds stupid but me my self placed a rag at the air intake
and it got sooked up the intake... what the hell the turbo has gone
loads of black smoke no power. took of the air filter cover went fine
strange pute back on same problem took of the air intake that crosses
over the engine found the culprit the rag silly me and a bit red faced....}:)

Actually........ Just im w

Actually........

Just im wandering whether the diesel pump maybe at fault? Is there any possible way of checking the pump without sophisticated equipment??
The exhaust is full of black soot which is dry not oily which to me suggest its running rich.
I still havent had chance to look at the turbo yet.
