sporty engine prob solved-tip

Forum:

got a 93 sporty that would stall and not restart as soon as it got warm.
swapped temp sender (by distributor),
-swine of a job-no difference.
as it ran fine when cold i pulled the plug
on the temp sender, got an orange "engine
fault"light but it now ran fine, but on choke all the time.
so prob was the ecu-swapped,all now fine.
have fun,the rev.

Sorry. Not quite understood.

You changed the ecu?? If so where can you get one from and how much? Still got a similar problem on my Sporty.

ecu...

yes,its a tin box about 5'*6*1 by the pass door piller inside.
i must admit i left it well alone 'till now due to paranoia!
but i was told(dont know if true but it seams to be..)the
ecu uses a separate hardware program on cold start to normal
running, and this was the part that was fried on my old ecu.
so as soon as i was sure it was faulty i rang graham dewhurst
on 01254 772204(on this site on parts page)he'll need the part
number off your ecu and how many pins it has(3 types i think,12
18 and a 24)75 pounds plus vat.
i'd recomend you attach a few new earth wires too,one from
your new ecu tin case(don't open it),the mounting bolts are fine,
to the bulkhead bolt, and one from the engine head to the batt neg
as bad neg earths can upset the ecu.
