vacuum pipes go where??

Forum:

Please help , ive just bought a sportrak "F" reg and i think they are great.I drove it 400 mile in 4 days then the cam belt tensioner broke wich led to cam belt jumping and broken valves etc.Now i did most of the work myself but the cyl.head was sent to have the valve guide replaced where they also removed the vacuum pipes from the attached places and lost them for me then tried to overcharge me too!!!I have pipes to replace them but no idea where to put them to/from
has anyone got any diagrams or a few mins to go look and tell me please. This has a carb and round air filter that fits direct onto the carb. All the others ive seen pics of seem to be fuel injection but mine must be earlier modle.:help: please Help

Vacuum Pipes go where?

Send me your email address and I will send you copies of the fuel and emisssions sections of the manual for the HD-C engine on your sporty.

Vacuum lines

Greetings drivers,

I'm having 4x4 problems lately after I sent the 4Trak to the mechanic to fix a problem with transfer lever popping out at speed (2-N-4L type transfer).

Popping out problem fixed but now it won't engage in 4H or 4L.

Checked lock hubs and they are fine.

Checked vacuum at transfer box and found a mess of misrouted lines.

I found a photo of how the lines should be routed. Find attached.
However, I´m not sure where I should get the feed from. On the photo you will see some highlighted items and questions that I cannot answer.

Anybody knows where these lines go to? What the metal line is running along the gearbox? I don't seem to have it on mine.

And if nobody knows, well, I hope the photo can help others.
The question of how those vacuum lines are routed on the 2H-N-4L transfer type have been asked so many times yet never....illustrated.

Cheers

Stuck

Hi all,

I know most are fed up with 4WD questions, but...I do't think that the particular issue of Forutral transfer box vacuum routing has been covered in full. AT least, as far as I'm concerned, I can't find the answer to my question, and I've been without 4WD (much needed 4WD in this rainy season) for weeks.
I've found a few pictures of the vacuum setup on the transfer. It's helped me, but not completely solved my problem.
Will someone take a look at them and give some insight on what goes where withh all the pipes on the pic?

Much appreciated.

Which is the vacuum feed pipe? (found where it feeds from, on a vacuum distributor in ther engine bay, by the alternator). I'm assuming it's the black pipe and not the clear one.

What is the metal pipe routed to the other side of the bell housing? Mine is missing that pipe. Can it work without it?

Where should the pipes be plugged if I bypass the solenoids and want to plug them directly into the transfer and up into the cabin, to the feed?

Somebody? Would be really appreciated.

Thanks

4WD switches/connections

Greetings drivers,

With time I have solved my 4WD issues.
I have figured out the proper routing and operation of the 4WD solenoids (thanks to pictures but mainly....service manual, "Transfer" section!) and have fixed my 4x4 problem (at least the 4H mode)

However ... There is one last thing that eludes me. It's the connection diagram for the 4WD switches.

I have found all 3 switches on the transfer disconnected ("4WD Low switch" that should operate the solenoids when 4L is selected on the lever in order to allow the vacuum to select 4L) , "2H/N/4L switch" that should operate the 4WD indicator when 2H/N/4L are selected or deselected, "4WD Indicator switch" that should operate the 4WD indicator when 4H button is pressed) and wiring turned a mess.

I can't figure out what switch connects where!

Does someone have pictures of how those switches are connected (connector colors or shapes would help me figure it out)or some diagram? I know the service manual has a wiring diagram section, but I don't have the manual!

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Cheers

Sure

Great,

Thanks. I'm not very "electric" savvy but from the diagram I understand that the 4WD switch and the Neutral switch are wired in common (they serve the same purpose of turning on the 4WD Indicator) and the Low switch is wired seperately. That should help me figure things out.

Physically looking at the switch wiring under the truck, I realize that they are only 2 connectors/wires left for the 3 switches. One coming from the solenoid connectors (guessing it should be the Low switch connector since the diagram shows that it serves to operate the VSVs) and one standing alone (guessing there should be two instead of one. Maybe I should splice another connector on that same wire to connect both the Neutral and the 4WD switches)

There.

Thanks for the input.
