Sirion sunroof - won't close when engine running

Posted in

Hi,

Car is a Sirion Y reg. The sunroof looks like is a factory fit but I'm not sure about that. It does have a separate booklet with the name Webasto on it. I've contacted Webasto but not had any joy. I think it might be a bad earth or fuse or something but I'm getting ahead of myself.

The problem is that the sunroof won't open or close with the engine running. It used to work then but now it doesn't. It will open and close at all other times, including with the key in the ignition position but with the engine stopped. The sunroof automatically closes after 3s when you stop the engine (or is it lock car?). as it does this then there is some sort of clever controller for sunroof. But I don't know where that is to check the wiring for an inline fuse, loose screw, wire, etc..

Anyone seen anything like this?

Any suggestions?

Anyone got the same sunroof and know where the controller is?

TIA

I have the same kind of issue

I have the same kind of issue with my vehicle too. This problem occurs when you have a non-original sun roof. Luckily I knew someone who is familiar with this stuff and got it done. Surely this can be fixed.

Not Factory Fitted !

Your roof has been fitted aftermarket.
You need to contact Webasto and see what they say.
I realise you have tried - Keep trying.

Unless someone on here has had one fitted themselves I dont think we can be of much use to you.

Clearly some sort of problem with the actual roof or sensors or something like that.

Sorry cant be of much help on this one. Sad

2003 Sirion Rally 4. And I love it.
Don't like the new shape Sirion much.Sorry.

I am with Bob on this. Had something similar on my first Subaru Impreza Turbo200. I believe the sunroof was from a thrid party, and a lot of the functions on that car were connected to the Alarm system. Does your car also have an alarm system with a keypad for overriding and setting things up. Could be something to do with the immobiliser system too. You need to contact the manufacturer. Sounds like a spearate computer box connected up to the ECU somewhere perhaps?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions. Webatso (uk) have sent me some pdfs but they don't show a "brain" box anywhere in th eparts diagrams although they do list a relay box (but no picture of this). Looking at my notes I have:

Key at lock position
Radio off, Sunroof inactive

Key at acc. position
Radio on, sunroof opens and closes.

Key at ign position, engine not started
Radio on, sunroof opens and closes.

Key at ign position, engine started
Radio on, sunroof inactive.

Key removed, after 3 sec open sunroof closes.

So the suggestion of the immobiliser might be worth looking at although the car has no alarm, keypad or anything like that. I think I have to try to trace the wiring of the sunroof to see what connects to what. I suppose first off I could try taking the battery off for a while to see if I can "reset" all the brains.
