Hello all can anyone help me. I own a 99 Hijet MPV Thingey(6 seater Freedom) 993cc. Its getting the Satin Black/ Pink Custom Flame treatment this year and i love it. Recently ive found it hard to get into reverse. All the other gears work fine but when i try to select reverse it goes a bit sloppy then after a bit of a wrestle it goes in.(usually i have to get it near 5th then clunk it in!!!)
The gearbox makes no strange noises and the clutch is nearly new.
Please please can anyone on here help me as this is my main motor and i need it for work.

Would it be something obvious like the clutch needing looked at, how much travel is there on the clutch pedal?
generally if you put the gear lever in neutral let the clutch pedal come up again and the try again it is easier at least for a while until it really needs replaced.

if it goes into 1st no worries and through all the other gears up and down plus no slip under load then its not the clutch, possible gearbox/linkage issue, is the idle speed correct as if fast then that could cause this has no synchro for reverse.

what he (policychecker)said... put it in neutral, let the clutch out then depress the clutch again and select reverse. so don't worry about it, it's not specific to your car
