I am so happy to share my experience!!!

Forum:

Hello everybody! I've dreamed for a fourtrack for a long time and finaly bought one few weeks ago. It's a Fourtrack EL 2.8TD limited adition with black metallic paint, removable sunroof/roof, electric windows and brand new 235 off-road tyres on chromed steel wheels. The engin runs smooth and starts at button. By driving it from London to Glasgow, I found it really designed for off-road and not very good on motor way. The speed is ok but the suspension is really hard. Once I reach 70m/h the car feels very noisy. I am new guy to own a four wheel drive, so truly need some guidance from your experts. I have loads of questions. Please share your experience with me.
1. What services do I have to do? Like change gearbox oil, timing belt or something?
2. The gears are a bit difficult to operate when engine is cold. What should I do?
3. Cluth bearing is noisy part time. Should I replace it?
4. Both rear wheel arch are seriously rust through. The wheel arch extension just hanging on them. Is it costly to be repaired?
5. I'd like to put some anti rust stuff on chassis. Any suggestion on which producct is the best?
6. I want to put new speakers on front door panels. But it seems no space for that. Any ideas?
These are what I can think at the moment. I am looking forward to share more experience with your guys. And, I'd like to thank you sooooooooooooo much for any helps.:) Smile :) Smile :) Smile :) SmileSmile

gear box stiff

it would seem the gears are dificult to engage when the gear box is cold, as the oil warms up the gears engage easier , change the gear box oil using the best gearbox oil you can afford, i also used slick 50 gear box treatment in mine , you should only have to do this once it will probably outlive the car, if you off road you should change t
the gear box oil more often.
as for the car seeming noisey the diesel rockys are chuggers , there crude and agricultural, but ultra reliable i off road mine going through water over my bonnet and the engine doesnt miss a beat thats why we love em
you may be getting road noise from the tyres your using if you want less noise fit road tyres rather than all terrains or muds
as for servicing i change my oil every 6.000 miles i mean theres no plugs , points to look after so whats £20 every 6.000 miles , speak to milner off road for servicing items, hope this helps

Many thanks!!

Your information is quite helpful. I will change the gear box oil with slick50 as soon as possible. As I know, slick50 is the best stuff money can buy. Milner seems the best place for 4x4 parts. Thanks very much!!

cool

Sounds just like min. . . I love it. . . should of got one years ago instead of messing around with fiestas and 205s. . .
