fourtrack 2.8td 4 wheel drive wont engage at all

d registered 4 track
it will not engage 4 wheeldrive in hi or lo position...
it has the 4 hi button on dash which doesnt light up..,.
none of other dash lights about 4 wheel drive light up either..

1 of the solenoids underneath behind the fusebox gets hot...
dunno what to try next all other gears work fine in 2 wheel hi...

any1 suggest anything plz

Bulbs blow, wires corrode or break. Dont place blind faith in the dash lights. Put it in 4wd, with gearbox in gear, and hubs disengauged, then get under the front and try to turn the front propshaft. If it turns, then there is a problem in the box. If it doesnt, then 4wd works.
