Daihatsu YRV Turbo Tein S Tech Lowering Springs - Up for Grabs at a Great Price!

Forum:

Hi All,

I hope I am not breaking any rules here - if so I appologise and will remove post.

As you may know or not, my poor YRV Turbo has a gearbox issue which I am looking to fix soon. At the moment I am just trying to get the money together so I am selling off stuff that I bought for that car. Every penny will help!

I have a set of Tein S Tech Lowering springs which I am happy to offer to any Daihatsu Driver Forum Member with Free Delivery. I paid £220 for them, and as far as I am aware, these seem to be the last set in existence (could be wrong). They have never been out the box, which is still all sealed.

If interested PM me or contact me via ebay. You can see them on ebay, auction number 110689578351.

Thanks for reading.

Reduced price...

Just incase anyone is interested in a bargain price for some Tein S springs for a YRV Turbo,

will do them for £120 delivered!

Hope everyone is good and enjoying their cars. I just got mine back on the road, but is not sounding to healthy. Going away to try a few things this week but dont think I can afford to keep.

If anyone fancy's the springs will certainly help towards some garage bills.

Thanks

Lowering springs

Just to widen the appeal of these Teins, they would almost certainly fit the standard YRV as many of the main suspension parts are common.

YRV Tony

Not necessarily Tony But

Not necessarily Tony Sad But worth a punt at that price. Definately worth it if a YRV Turbo owner who wants better traction and cornering Smile

Look good, I'm getting more

Look good, I'm getting more and more tempted to buy a YRV Turbo, but being realistic I cant see myself affording owning both a Sirion and YRV.

Were these personally imported from Japan or sourced in UK?

What are the benefits to them over the other more common brands available here such as Spax, PI and Cobra?

I didn't think anyone else

I didn't think anyone else made springs for the turbo - at least ones that are available here in the UK anyway. Jon rates his for sure and it sits really well.

Yep the Teins I have are the

Yep the Teins I have are the same as for sale. They were sourced in Japan by Tim Oakes formly Japaneasie now known as Spring-loaded. These are the max type springs which lowers the car more than the other spring makes such as Eibach and Spax that only do 25mm lowering kits. The teins lower the front by 30mm and the rear by 35mm. The rear on the YRV sits slightly higher at the back on the standard setup.
There are other makes out there, especially in Japan.

Noticed the popular lowering

Noticed the popular lowering kit suppliers all list the springs as YRV exc TURBO. I think i've seen one make that did'nt but guess they are not aware the turbo has uprated springs....well at the front at least.
I have some Eibach springs that were dealership supplied. The box is marked 4x4 YRV but is for the Turbo which is 4x4 overseas. I contacted Eibach and told these were a one of batch for Daihatsu dealerships and are no longer available. Like Jon says i think they lower 25mm. As usual not got round to fitting them Biggrin
Tim is Mikes brother, good guys to deal with....they both sound the same on the phone too Smile
Ryan should you need a replacement rad to solve your leak problem i have one off my breaker car and could maybe do a deal for the Tein's?

Cheers

I aint sure if the rad is what is causing the problem. From the people that have looked at the car they havent suggested the rad. They all seem very confused on how the water got in there. They think that the car may have been flooded, or went through a large puddle. I really dont know.

I dont know if I really want to go changing the rad yet, but thanks for the offer. I guy from Greece has offered me a good price for the springs, so prob sell to him so I can buy the rest of the stuff i need.

Sounds like your garage is

Sounds like your garage is not aware the box is water cooled. Cant see how water can get into it? It does have a breather on top which is easy to spot with a patch of fluid around it but no way would water could get into it so easy unless at the bottom of a lake.
I would definitely try the drain and leak cure first.
Is there any sign of box fluid in the rad and seen a drop in rad coolant?

Not sure, I am taking it to a

Not sure, I am taking it to a Daihatsu Dealer this afternoon for them to have a look at it. They might be able to have a better look.

They are going to do the atf and additive, and will get them to add some K-Seal too. Will ask them about what your saying, see if there is any sign of box fluid in the rad. Will let you know.

I havent noticed any drop in rad coolant.

Hope they are an honest

Hope they are an honest dealership...this kind of mystery can be taken advantage of.

The expansion tank can still show level so take the rad cap off and have a look.
Under pressure surely the coolant should be pumping into the auto box and the rad would start to empty. Also the box breather would be weeping something?

Does the engine bay look like its been steam cleaned? Maybe water was jetted down the dipstick or breather somehow?

Lets hope its a simple fix Smile

Well as you said Dave. The

Well as you said Dave.

The Radiator has been leaking water into the Autobox.

So the dealer put in K-Seal,
Replaced as much ATF as he could.
Put in the additive

He isnt very confident, the ATF fluid was like strawberry milkshake.

Just have to drive the car for a bit and wait and see. If things dont get better, around £350 for a radiator and over £1000 for a gearbox re-build. Not happening!

Going back thursday to do the ATF again, will have to wait and see. The dealer was very good as well and only charged me £30 for the change and diagnostic. Pretty good!

I hope he put it into the

I hope he put it into the radiator directly and not the plastic expansion tank, otherwise it will take many miles to even get into the system.

Sorry have to ask why you couldnt do these jobs yourself?

Yes he only charged you £30, but then it's only 10 mins work.

If the K-seal fails to work , then another product that is worth a try is called StealSeal, but its about £20-25 per bottle.

ANY radiator can be

ANY radiator can be recored/fixed for about £60-£100 at a local radiator specialist in the yellow pages.

Quite often they offer a same day or next day service.

No need to buy new from dealer!

repeated twice?

Edited this post....was a repeat of my last for some reason...happens to BobF alot too??

Sourced from UK

I got them brand new from a UK seller, think he has re-named himself springs-reloaded or something.

These were amoungst the last set imported from Japan to my knowledge, and no longer are available. They cost me £219 plus postage.

I also think these springs only fit the turbo, and I think the other springs (Spax, PI, Cobra etc) only fit the YRV. But I might be wrong.

Just for a bit of sales patter - these are brand new boxed, I have never even opened them. Surely these are great buy at £120 delivered. I am on holiday at the moment so if you buy, can get them to you in 48 hours!!!

Tein S Springs

Are these still available?

Also does anyone know if Sirion suspension would fit YRV Turbo?
