YRV and Sirion M100 tailpipe

YRV and Sirion M100 tailpipe

I've just had a stainless exhaust system fitted to my YRV Premium and retained the original Daihatsu tailpipe because it has a rolled-in (stainless?) outlet which looks better than a simple pipe.

If any YRV or Sirion M100 owner is interested in having this for free they are welcome to collect it from South Oxfordshire, not far from Reading. Just private message me. I'll keep it for a week or two and then chuck it if nobody wants it.

No takers....shame

Surely there must be someone who wants this exhaust outlet. They normally cost about £60 I seem to remember. There's tons of life left in it.

COME ON YOU CHAPS

Don't like the new shape Sirion much.Sorry.

Stainless Exhaust

Stainless system is as I asked Bob, manufacturer quiet and with the same size and type of outlet as the original Daihatsu tailpipe, which I'll give away to anyone who wants it.

Silent benefit

Bob, I was going to have to replace my exhaust system very soon as the pipe just in front of the silencer was about to rust through and silencer forward is one-piece. This happened at 4 years and now at a further 6 years. I bullied Daihatsu into replacing the first system for free outside of warranty. The first system had a straight pipe outlet and looked boring. The full replacement Daihatsu system had this 3 inch rolled-in stainless end which looks a bit interesting.

The new stainless system has the same type of outlet. Two straight-through baffleless silencers are fitted, one in the long front run to replace something that looked like a small silencer and one in the usual position at the back. This provides a very quiet system, at least inside the car, which is what I wanted.

Even though the very experienced and excellent TIG welder who did this job used to work for Renault F1 I didn't want any messing with the lambda sensor and its shroud, so a flange was put on the stub front pipe after the sensor.

Am I happy with it? Well, yes. The system is beautifully made and....bless my soul, even after a few days there is absolutely no sign of rust, which was the only reason for changing the system anyway.

There may be some benefit from the freer-flowing exhaust, perhaps a slight power increase at high revs which I probably wouldn't notice, or a slight improvement in the already impressive mpg figure.

Sounds a bit llike mine !
