I've got a 1990 fourtrak. When I turn full lock left or right theres a squealling from under the bonnet, I think it's the power steering pump drive belt.
Anybody got any idea why its making this noise? Ive checked the power steering fluid level and that seems to be fine. Could the belt need tightening (if so, how and how tight!) or is the pump about to pack in on me?
Anybody with any ideas let me know - cheers!
STEERING
A high pitched squeeling is the belt, it will do it on full lock, either left or right.
First thing is to tighten the belt, it should just be able to twist 90 deg on the middle of the longest run.
or
Belt is worn and needs replacing, if its shiney, or shows signs of cracks, replace it.
