Sorry to hear of your problems. It is every Turbo owners worst nightmare the gearbox failing. There have been two reports of a drum on third gear snapping causing failure, and several other failures. There has not been, as far as I am aware, a definitive answer for any generic failure. A fairly common (for me anyway) occurrence is for the D4 light to flash when starting the engine and engaging D4. The car will not usually change out of 1st gear and the car goes into gear very hard; once restarted the problem goes away for a time. Apparently the fix was a new battery as if the voltage drops too much during starting it upsets the gearbox ECU, but I am not convinced yet!

Anyway..........as far as a replacement gearbox goes, I am not aware of any available spare gearboxes here in the UK, and a couple of members on here have had them repaired. Where is the hole? Is it possible to repair the hole/replace a seal or something? Others may be able to help you further and point you in the right direction. I think if mine fails I will scrap it, as repairs will probably cost more than the car is worth! Do a search for YRV Gearbox on here too. I hope you manage to get it sorted one way or another.
