grease points

Forum:

Hi, I've had my sportrak for nearly a year and a friend of mine (who owns a fourtrak) say's there are grease points that need regular attention with a grease gun, can anyone let me know if this is true, if so, how many do i need to find?
thanks

Ohhhhhhhhh Yes. There are abo

Ohhhhhhhhh Yes. There are about 6 on the front steering/suspension assy, and 2 on each propshaft (1 on each UJ). The ones on the swivel joints are easily got at, but to get at the ones on the tie bar joints really requires the sump guard to be dropped. If they are pointing in an awkward position to get the gun on, then just loosen them a bit. Makes the steering much better, too.

The ones on the propshaft require it to be dropped but it's only a question of removing the bolts. TIP - scribe the flange to make sure it goes back in the same position. Its the rear prop that does all the work as the front only turns when 4WD engaged, so make that one the priority.
