YRV SERPENTINE BELT

Finaly got round to changing the belt and what a pain to do Evil
The pulley nut was so tight and hardly any space to get to it.
Removed the Apexi airfilter, turbo pipes, engine cover.
I also moved the ABS control box and bracket. The bottom 2 bolts were fiddly to get out and even harder going back in Laughing out loud
The bolt hole just above the top bracket fixing was handy, just refixed it to that, creating a bit more room.
Used an 8inch x 3/8ths flex head handle/breaker bar with 14mm socket to remove the stubborn pulley nut.
The original 2004 Daihatsu belt was marked 4pk1715, different to the 4pk1705 thats on my 2003 spares car?
Replaced with a Gates 4pk1720 and that extra 5mm helped too! Realy tight to get back on the tensioner and can see why the belts listed as a 4pk1755 by the various makers.

You mean the noise that Daihatsu cant hear.
Yeah mine did make it but not any more i'm pleased to say.
Well at least it turned out to be something simple and not the megga expensive DVVT unit we thought it might have been.
Still angry at Daihatsu UK for their lack of real interest and strangely enough they did say they knew of a belt fault on some YRV's but that was on earlier cars.....obviously not!

Jon, pump was ok although i still have one in stock ready for the day.....got 2 more if your interested ??
Regards starting it still needs a couple of turnovers sometimes. Think the battery might be the cause.
