Sportrak ELXi 1991 Steering

Hi all

Is there any way i can find out the steering spline diameter for my 1991 Sportrak ElXi without the removing the steering wheel and the use of a micrometer? I would have imagined these things be pretty standard. I've check the service manual but no mention of this information there.
