Squishy breaks on F78

Posted in

My break pedal slowly sinks to the floor when the engine is running if I apply moderate pressure (can't shift it when the engine is off). I am not losing any fluid and the breaks seem good when running but I feel this may be the start of a potential issue in the long run. I assume the issue is that the rubbers in the master cylinder are worn and leaking slightly. I was wondering if anybody knows of a supplier for replacement rubbers for the master cylinder? I could replace the whole master cylinder unit but they cost

Squishy breaks on F78

Thanks

Unfortunately 1 day too late Sad
I have ordered a new master from Milner as I have been unable to source replacement rubbers from anywhere at a reasonable price.

One simple test is to remove

One simple test is to remove the brake pipes and bung the outlets, leave a short stub of brake pipe on one to bleed them. Bleed the cylinder and bung the end of the bleed pipe, start the engine and try holding the pedal down, if it sinks slowly it is the cylinder.

You will have to make the bungs from nipples, i use old ones, and use a piece of brake pipe to make the bleed pipe. This needs a nipple to bleed, and a cap to bung it. It is a handy piece of kit to make and keep.

Sounds like the master

Sounds like the master cylinder seals.

Yes that was my thinking...

So any idea where I can source a rubber recon kit for the master?
