Hi Daihatsu Ownwers
I,m looking to get a Sirion 02-05 and would like some advice on what to look for when viewing cars?
I,ve had a good look through the forums and decided I will most probably go for a standard 1.3 as the rally versions seem to have a few problems with finding parts. Though if I see one at a good price I may be swayed by the extra power
Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris.

I went to view a Sirion
I went to view a Sirion today. Totally standard sl 53 plate 56k on the clock. Had a few rust patches and needs a good clean but in good condition overall.
One thing I noticed when we went on the test drive (not me driving) when he let off the gas it seemed to judder a bit. Is this normal? or what could it be?
As its done 56k and has no history of a new cluch how long do you think it will be before it needs doing?
Sorry for all the questions.
I'm new to these cars and want to know what to expect.
Any info appreciated from anyone, Sirion driver or not.
Cheers.
Chris.

Re: I went to view a Sirion
Top Gear did a review on the Sirion when it first came out and said it "rolled" on bends but other then that could not fault it.
I have bought one recently and have no complaints. 2007 plate and 21,000 miles but it had been a Mobility car and has suffered a few dinks in the body work. Nice smooth ride and it's an auto. Had it six weeks now.

Rally Parts.
There is no problem with getting parts Chris, but they can be expensive.
Fortunately the Sirions are very reliable.
I had the 1300 SL and there is a picture of it in the Images in Cars.
Nice motors and never had a problem while I had it.
Saying that Iv'e never had a problem with any of them.
Where abouts (Roughly) do you live.
I know where there is a cracker for sale privately.
No I am not on commission

Thanks for the reply Bob.
Im from Lancashire.
It's not just that the parts more expensive it's just from reading throught the posts i notice more problems with the Rally version.
Maybe its just that theres more Rally owners on here though. I'm still considering the rally. Are you refering to the Rally4 for sale in the classifieds?

Nope.
There is one in a village just below where I live for sale. In bright Red.
I will have a good look at it and let you know ok.
It is some distance from you, but could be worth it if really good.
No real problems with Rallys though.
Some suspension things that can be fixed fairly easily and cheaply. Engine as solid as a rock as long as it has been serviced ok with decent oils etc.

Cheers Bob. From your posts it sounds like you know a thing or two about the sirion's. I would be grateful for feedback on the red one. Is it a Rally?
They do look the best in red. Does this red fade bad though?
Where in the world are you from Bob?

N E Lincs. And Addendum.
Some distance away from you unfortunately.
I will be passing the Sirion this afternoon.
I travelled a 250 mile round trip to get my Rally 4.
I will be able to tell you more later.
ADDENDUM.
Seen Red Sirion Now. Forget it.
Keep looking
Just had Sirions for some years now and learnt a thing or two about them thats all.
The Rally for sale on here will be a good buy I'm sure.
He has had it for some time and it is looked after. But he may yet change his mind and keep it.
What he wants a Fiat 500 for is beyond my imagination..
