Inspection / service after 9000

Hi there,

There is just a time to start thinking about my 9000 service. And I wonder where I should do it...

I've seen that the prices in official Daihatsu services are outrageus. I am a foreigner, so don't know too much about British rules (I live here only few years) so wanted to ask: do I have to service my car with an official Daihatsu network, or can I do it with just basically any garage?

Will my warranty will be affected if I will do it with other garage? As in my country servicing the car in non-authorised network means loss of warranty...

You can have your car serviced anywhere.

As long as it is a proper garage and they use the correct parts etc, you can have your car serviced anywhere.

And they can stamp the book as well.

But they must use proper Daihatsu Parts ok.

Under Vehicle block exemption rules you could take it to any service garage of your choice

Although the rule ended very recently (31/05/10),i think its not being scrapped but revised to make simpler without affecting the back street garages etc

The parts dont have to be genuine but must be at least the same quality as the original ie - a known make and the garage must completely follow the manufacturers service schedule...parts, checks the lot!

Ive recently fell foul of not following Protons exact service criteria. A rear calliper fault on a Satria Neo couldnt be claimed under warranty due to not having a fuel filter and gearbox oil changed the year before?? Puzzled At 3 yrs and 27000mls i'm mad!!

Ask the dealeship what you get for the money and decide from there. At 9000mls it should only be oil and filter change...the rest is just ticking the visual inspection boxes.
